Tomorrowland: Introduction

 


OVERVIEW AND BACKSTORY:

Walter Elias Disney always had a fascination with the future. Beyond the conflicts of his time, he saw great advancements and achievements for humanity. He saw solutions for the problems of his country, which he believed could be achieved.


To map out what his ideal futuristic community would be like, he conceived a city in Florida called EPCOT, the Experimental Prototype Community of Tomorrow. This working city would feature many of his ideas for a greater world, including stacked highways, monorails and people movers, and other great advancements in technology.


Unfortunately for Walt, he never got to see his most ambitious dream come to pass. When he died in 1966, his plans for EPCOT were put down. Although they were revived in the 1970’s with the opening of Walt Disney World in Florida, it was not the EPCOT he had been dreaming of. Rather than a city, a theme park was built. This is not a city either, but a tribute to Walt’s ideas, predictions, and solutions for the future. Like the park Epcot, this contains a showcase of humanity’s ongoing advancements, from technological changes to space exploration.

Marine Life Institute: Introduction

OVERVIEW: On the American west coast is the newest facility of the Marine Life Institute. Here, guests are invited to come and take part in the Institute’s newest projects, where guests will help them discover more about the marine life of the world. Here, they are presented with three separate programs. In their SeaRider program, guests will shrink down to the size of a fish and explore the ocean. In their Marine World program, guests will learn more about the life inhabiting the world’s oceans. Finally, in their Turtle Talk program, guests will interview a voluntary sea turtle and learn about his world, while he learns about their world too. This may be a smaller area compared to the rest of the park, but it is still worth seeing. Here, guests can even spot some sea lions down by the bay. (Possibly Fluke and Rudder from Finding Dory. ) Other notable sights include a lighthouse, some seagulls who say “MINE!”, and a boat, which is parked near a pier sticking out of the base.

Frontierland: Dining, Shopping, and Entertainment

They may also hear a jazz band play from time to time, depending on when they come.
